• Fundamentals of multimedia.
• Information resources. Study resources. Bibliography services.
• Methods of data presentation. Information. Multimedia. Making multimedia services. Multimedia skills.
• Multimedia building blocks: Text. Sound. Image. Animation. Video.
• Electronic media, devices and systems: Historical and technology overview. Computers. Multimedia devices. Sound and image capture and reproduction devices. Multimedia storage media.
• Multimedia services. Interactive communications. Web technologies.

Objectives and competences:

The course makes an overview of multimedia content presentation and introduces fundamental multimedia technologies, devices and systems. The application of applicable technologies in interactive multimedia services is being explained. Fundamentals of multimedia communication and information technologies are to be gained by the students.

Intended learning outcomes:

• Familiarization with modern information resources.
• Managing of technical domains of media, information and multimedia with emphasis on interactivity.
• Understanding of physical properties of sound, image and video as most important building blocks of multimedia content.
• Understanding of technical principles of multimedia capture, storage and presentation devices.

Learning and teaching methods:

• Lectures, demonstrations, practical laboratory work.
