Subject description

Prerequisits:

  • Enrollment in the study year.

Content (Syllabus outline):

History of multimedia systems (development of radio, TV and internet). Analogue and digital concepts, principles of digitalisation. Environment, systems and devices for multimedia consumption:

  • Processing of multimedia content
  • Distribution of multimedia content
  • Content search
  • Content protection
  • Legal aspects and intelectual property
  • Devices and user interfaces

Multimedia delivery chain, specifics of content types and delivery paths, multimedia services and convergent environments.

Objectives and competences:

Introductory subject in the study of multimedia. Understanding of the basic concepts in multimedia systems, content capturing, processing, transmission and protection of content. Understanding the analog and digital principles. Basic types of multimedia services.

Intended learning outcomes:

Understanding of important issues relating to multimedia content and multimedia systems Knowledge of the entire chain from creation to consummation (content and services).

Learning and teaching methods:

Lectures, demonstrations, practical laboratory work.
